The Beatitudes Page: The eight-pointed Maltese
Cross represents the eight Beatitudes, collectively forming the way of spiritual
martyrdom or crucifixion along which all Orthodox Christians struggle. Here
are links to some ancient and modern Orthodox commentary on the Eight Beatitudes,
the "commandments of blessedness" which every Knight Hospitaller strives
to obey.

The Lord's Prayer Page: Every Knight
Hospitaller recites the Lord's Prayer at least once a day; in earlier centuries
the knights observed a daily spiritual rule which included multiple recitations
of the Pater Noster. To make such recitation meaningful and not just the
sort of multiplication of words which our Lord so specifically condemned,
one must consider what this "most perfect of prayers" actually says. Here
are some ancient writings from the Orthodox tradition explaining the prayer;
more will be added later.
